[ 03/2022 ] Drones – Taking Centurion to New Heights

CAD Developer, Dave Olmsted is taking Centurion to new heights with drone photography! After rigorous amounts of training and studying he recently obtained his FAA Remote Pilot Certificate which allows him to venture out into aerial photography. Aerial photography is a new extension of his existing passion for photography and dark room techniques, photoshop, and graphic arts. He has also joined the Academy of Model Aviation (AMA) to further hone his skills as pilot, in his spare time.

Drone photography within the construction industry provides owners and stakeholders a different perspective of inspection and progress on their jobsites. The data provided from these new views allows us to more effectively problem solve and provide innovative solutions to reduce costs and risks while increasing productivity and workflow to stay on and ahead of schedule.

We love to go above & beyond at Centurion! We are grateful for Dave and the drones who can take us to the next level.

[ 01/2022 ] CAD Department Spotlight

An integral and unique part of Centurion’s preconstruction process is the utilization of our in-house designer and CAD developer, Dave Olmsted, to develop 3D renderings of projects that are still in preliminary design.  This is done mainly to show clients what the finished product will look like.

The 3D rendering is an important step in our preconstruction process that allows us to present different design options and finishes before construction, perform MEP coordination studies, create presentations and media that display the proposed construction or renovation, and make quick alterations to floor plans for approval before passing along to the architect.  We find it’s more timely and affordable to rework the design and create drafts in this way.

Using powerful tools like Autocad, Revit and Enscape, Dave creates the beautiful renderings that allow us to accomplish all this and more.  About his process, Dave says, “The best thing I have found to do when in the company of a client is to LISTEN…and then do a boat load of research starting with ‘best practices when…’ and that’s it!”

[ 01/2022 ] Continuing Our Education

As part of Centurion’s ongoing efforts to continually develop and challenge our employees, we offer two enrollment periods a year in which our employees can choose to participate in a program to continue their education.  We have partnered with ABC Keystone, Dale Carnegie & Associates and OSHA outreach trainers, among others, to afford our employees opportunities to grow and refine their skillsets.

Since last year, we have seen 10 of our jobsite superintendents receive ICRA certification with 4 superintendents also receiving ASHE credentials!  On the office side of our operations, two members of our staff have earned additional certificates through Dale Carnegie Learning, namely the Leadership Training for Managers and Dealing with Stress and Worry Certificate Paths.

These accomplishments are a testament to the character and drive of our staff and we here at Centurion are incredibly proud of our team for their commitment to growth and enthusiasm for furthering their education.

[ 01/2022 ] Godshall’s Quality Meats Partners with Centurion for Our Largest Project to Date

Godshall’s Quality Meats has chosen to  partner with Centurion Construction on a large addition to their plant!  The addition will include new process areas, ingredients warehouse space, maintenance and storage areas, offices, and an additional shell space for future offices as Godshall’s continues to grow.

This project will be phased to allow for processing and shipping to continue during construction.  The phasing will require temporary measures to protect existing processing and segregation of employees from construction activities.

Centurion Construction is incredibly humbled by, and grateful for, this opportunity. As our largest project to date, Godshall’s proves an important milestone in our growth, and we look forward to being part of their legacy of supplying and creating unique, great quality meat products.
